Bustin' knuckles

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here I am applying a nice drop of latex to Hoppy - or at least pretending like I am. Do you realize that, in all my pics of techniques, I'm never actually doing what I seem to be doing? That's right, when you're taking the pics yourself, you can't do it while also performing some difficult painstaking task, so I just wait till I'm done and then pose as if I'm still working. That's the way a lot of "in progress" shots are done, I guarantee you.

Anywhoo, you can see here how unpredictable this can get. Sometimes all the drops run together into a uknicle and sometimes they stay separate.

No, this isn't my apple head... it hasn't reached this advanced state just yet! I just happened to run across a place where you can get your very own authentic shrunken human head! Well, authentic replica that is, made from tanned animal hide by "indigenous artisans". Nice, but I think I'll stick with fruitmangling.

Eww, so that' what people were talking about when they mentioned sewing the mouth shut on the apple heads like real shrunken ones. ew.

Hey, now those arms and hands and knuckles, those are looking awesome! yum. I'm sure you've thought of this and/or it is moot but I would dot all eight pinkies, let 'em dry, dot all ring fingers, let 'em dry, etc. to avoid having unihumplumpitus?

WOW Mike! Those hands, and arms look AWESOME! I just tried liquid latex for the first time, and I didn't have as good results as you, but it's really cool stuff!! I can't wait to see your puppets in action!!!!

I just noticed the killer book list on your sidebar, sweet.

Again, moot, but you might also glue a seed bead or smaller hole-less bead either with a toothpick tip of strong/thin glue or with a drop of the latex itself. It would knuckle up the bump perfectly so that even the spreading would look natural. I could always send you a supply from my magic stash of things.
