2007 Academy Nominated shorts available on DVD (at last... Peter & the Wolf gets a US release!)

Just ran across this.... with no fanfare (that I ever noticed anyway) Magnolia Pictures has released a DVD containing ALL the nominated shorts from 2007 - that's both live action and animation. It includes (for us stopmo freaks) Madame Tutli-Putli, Peter and the Wolf, and Even Pigeons go to Heaven (Um..... I thought that one was CGI, but Kristin Thompson insists it's a puppetfilm). Also fantastic is Aleksandr Petrov's incredible oil-on-glass film My Love. It's at Amazon.

I ran across this treasure trove on David Bordwell's blog

Just so you know, all the animated shorts from this collection are also available as DVD quality downloads through the iTunes store.

Bah! Wouldn't you know it -- I read this post the day AFTER my copy of Peter & the Wolf arrives from Amazon.UK... :P

Lesson learned: I bet the Oscar nominees get published to DVD *every* year.

Just spotted this, minutes after ordering the Madame Tutli-Putli DVD direct from the Canadian Film Board. Luckily had seen the other films on the net so don't think I've lost out too much.

I'm buying it. Thanks for the head's up, Mike!

It will be mega-awesome to see a film that was created with software I've played with.

(^ I was waching that specific dvd over this past weekend.

(^ it seems my surrogate mother found the character in pigeons go to heaven reminiscent of my early sculptures: like back when I was 20 to 22 yrs old.

(^ sigh. really should dredge up my old sculpting skills.

(^ pss2strider: splchck waching?!
