You've set the 'bar' pretty high for drinking flicks in stopmo - not sure I can hold my own against one such as yourself. You'll probably drink me right under the animation table.
I AM messing around, but getting close to actual production animation now. I won't be showing the 2 shots I did leading up to this one. But this one makes me very happy aside from the paleness of the lighting, which was supposed to be darker and more contrasty. I think I confused myself working on the delicate balance between f-stop and exposure time trying to find a field of depth I was happy with, and wasn't paying enough attention to actual lighting levels.
Hi Mike!!!! Great to see your post here:) It is looking wonderful. Puppets move very smooth. And I like the dept of field... Looking forward to seeing more here. Keep us posted.
Blacknick, let me reiterate (as I do every so often) that the puppet heads were made by an amazingly talented sculptor/puppetsmith named Scott Radke. The film is also based on an idea he and I worked out. I've tried to make everything else in such a way as to provide a setting in which those heads can shine like gemstones. They're the real personality of the film.
The good stuff flowing like water in Cosmo's - I've been hanging out there everyday doing shot after shot after shot, and it feels fantastic!!! After being stalled in pre-production so ridiculously long, this thing has roared to life with a vengeance!!!

The perfect rack foci!, the stunning atmospheric lighting! the compositions. If I could I'd swear on here.
